Gates Mills

From the Mayor - October '22
Monday, Oct. 3rd

Dear Villagers,

October’s cool air, crisp leaves and colorful tree displays mean it’s time for fall planting, clean-up and holiday prepping.

Our Service Department is in the fall clean-up mode and getting ready for winter. They do a great job on our behalf throughout the seasons.

We are offering many opportunities for you to handle your unwanted items at Town Hall this month.
• Electronic Recycling October 8
• Hazardous Waste Collection October 18
• Shredding Day October 22
• Drug Take Back Day October 29

The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District is also offering a TV recycling event on October 8 at their location.|

We had a great response to the Neighborhood Meetings for our Village’s Comprehensive Plan. Now the work of our Advisory Group really gets going. They will be working over many months to look at all the input from the survey, meetings, interviews, and presentations to put together ideas for the next ten years
in our Village. This will then be presented to Council. Council will review, study, and move forward with some or all parts of the plan. Council will most likely begin this process in the spring of 2023.

Please let the Police know if you are going away. The information stays in Gates Mills with our Police Department. You may fill out the form on our website under the “Watch My House” line under Online Services, or during weekday hours, you can call Dorothy or Jean at Town Hall with your information. Officers are out driving our area 24 hours, 7 days a week. They look for cars in driveways of people who are away and for packages that have been delivered. Please help them keep you safe.

Halloween is back! There is door-to-door trick or treating, and there will be a party at the Community House. The event will be held on Friday, October 28 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Further details can be found in this issue of The Pink Sheet.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 8. The Village has Issue #54 on the ballot. This is a renewal of a 3-mill levy for current expenses and is not a tax increase. Please remember to vote either in person or via absentee ballot.

Looking forward to a beautiful fall in our Village!
