Q?: Who are the members of the Broadband Committee, and do they possess expertise in advanced information technology and infrastructure? 

A:Current Committee members:

The Village engaged Reid Consulting for their expertise in this area.

 

Q?: Have you gathered quotes from various providers and engaged in negotiations? 

A: An RFP for Fiber to the Home was published and had 3 respondants. (AT&T and Ohio Gig responded and Spectrum submitted a letter that was not responsive)

 

Q?: What factors influenced your decision-making process? 

A: Weighed pros and cons of two proposals (see slide beginning at about 11:10 in Town Hall Meeting video referenced above)

 

Q?: Have comparisons been made between the infrastructure and technology offered by different providers? A: Yes

 

Q?: Who is the company village signed the agreement with? A: Chagrin Valley Gig or CVG

 

Q?: When will the project begin, and what is the expected completion date?
A: Construction beginning in January 2026 – 30-month project period.

 

Q?: What is the estimated budget? 
A: CVG estimated to invest over $3.5 million dollars in infrastructure. The Village will prepay broadband services to its 11 village buildings for a 25-year term for $455,000 – rates locked for the 25 years.

 

Q?: Has the work been mapped out, and how will residents be informed? (Refer to map in top part of this page).

Q?: Will the lines be buried underground or above ground and will the residents presented with the choice of underground lines?

A: It is estimated that 90% of the lines will be buried underground. Aeriel installation only where underground is impossible or unfeasible.

 

Q?: What is the cost of the basic package?

Q?: Will every household receive a plan or diagram of the network installation?

A: Every household will have an opportunity to sign up and work with CVG to discuss implementation at their homes.
