Gates Mills Council Appoints John Onysko to Fill Vacant Council Seat
In a unanimous decision, the Gates Mills Village Council has selected long-time resident John Onysko to fill the council seat vacated by the passing of Councilmember Ed Welsh on February 24, 2025. John will serve for the remainder of the term, which runs through December 30, 2027.
John brings a wealth of experience from the world of technology and business. He is the founder of 1 EDI Source, Inc., a company he launched in 1989, grew over three decades, and ultimately sold to Epicor. As a true pioneer in the tech industry, John was one of the first residents to have fiber optic internet installed in his home, cementing his reputation as a forward-thinking innovator.
"We welcome John to the Council,” said Mayor Steve Siemborski. “His extensive expertise in technology and business will be invaluable, especially as we explore a village-wide fiber optic internet solution. John's experience will be a major asset as we work towards ensuring that every resident and business has access to cutting-edge, reliable internet service."
Mayor Siemborski added, “We interviewed five highly qualified candidates, all of whom demonstrated a passion for serving our community. We are grateful for their willingness to step forward and look forward to their continued involvement in Gates Mills.”
